My younger one announced that he'd rather go to Spain. He loves the hot air, beach, swimming and sand.
My oldest one announced that as far as he is concerned, his vacation money will be put to digging up the side of the garage and then placing some rainwater protection on the sides of the dug up walls.
I thought- oh no. So little time. Perhaps two weeks max together and no clear plan of what to do. Asking me, I would love to book the tickets to Spain, but the prices seem to be rising as we speak, not to mention the costs for the garage and yard for the summer to come.
My brilliant travel agent mind worked all by itself for a day or two, then I announced: what if we take a roadtrip to Norway? Not even sure what I meant, I begun to google up our options. Once before, when we were such a young couple, we had gone on a memorable trip starting from Trondheim, making our way up North to the Lofoten Islands, and then back to the Finnish Lapland. What if we went a bit more South this time? I've seen in brochures that the route is even more scenic to the West of Oslo. Hmmm. Perhaps a more affordable, yet memorable vacation? The destination is obviously called Geirangerfjord. Beautiful scenery, hiking, water sports and to my own pleasure, those turquoise color fjords. Cooler climate for the older boy. Activities for the whole family. We'll have to consider this one.
This is what I found in pictures:
I have a fright for high places, but I might just have to overcome it this time. It's just way too beautiful.
