This is just a quick HI to tell you I'm still alive...
Today, the first day of proper everyday life again after Christmas break I nearly had a mental breakdown.
Everything went seemingly well, but under the surface I was quite devastated at times.
Things to mention:
- My older boy skipped football in order to have energy for basketball later in the evening. I had an agreement with my boy that he generally doesn't go to two practices a day (we are talking about an eleven-year-old, for goodness sake). Apparently some had, thus leaving me panting over trivial issues. Should I have left work early to take my boy as well? We can't always win, since we work regular hours. Those who don't, have an advantage. My goodness. Our performance focused culture sucks at times. If I lived in Singapore, I'd find it more acceptable. We're in Finland, seriously. We have Hyypiä, Forssell, Pohjanpalo and old Litmanen. It's not that grand.
- We had surprise visitors for the evening, which was nice. The only thing now is that instead of having everything ready, nothing is done and I have an extra load of dishes waiting after we had supper toasts for... let me count... five adults and three kids plus a baby. Warning time? An hour and a half. I had just enough time to make the beds and my husband quickly went grocery shopping. He came home at 18.30 tonight at the same time as the guests.
- Both boys have skiing in school tomorrow. Which is nice. Except that we have to get everything ready during the night. The weather has taken a turn so the skis need a different kind of a wax layer. Bummer. The things parents do for their kids at night, you can't imagine.
- My older son has a birthday invitation for tomorrow for a friend. They're going swimming. Which is nice. Except that I have to go through all wardrobes to find his swimming shorts and find goggles, wrap the 12-to-be birthday boy's present so it's ready to take along at five tomorrow, just after I've arrived from work.
- I won't bother you with more things to mention. Except that I think I've earned my sauna, even if it takes me over midnight on monday night.
Good night, sleep tight, those of you who can!
